Promising Ten Sovereigns filly Moschino hasn’t wasted any time in adding to her winning tally.

The three-year-old overcame a wide barrier to break her maiden at her eighth start after six minor placings and followed up at Matamata with further success over 1400 metres.

Our homebred is raced by trainer Margaret Falconer under her Ellesmere Thoroughbreds and was given a sweet run near the pace before asserting her superiority in the run to the judge.

“She took a while to learn what to do, but has always showed good ability,” Falconer said.

“She came on a lot since her last run and will probably get out to a mile this preparation.”

Moschino had led all the way at Te Rapa when posting her initial success and this time was able to sit off the pace.

“When she led last time, she looked around and waited for the others, so we were keen to get some cover,” Falconer said.

Rider Michael McNab executed the pre-race plan perfectly to race in fourth spot away from the fence and the three-year-old was strong to the line to account for the Almanzor mare Amyer Star.

“I was happy to get the one-one and she did the rest and won with quite a bit of ease, she’s got a bright future,” McNab said.

Moschino was purchased via the Gavelhouse platform for $2700 and is a daughter of the Stravinsky mare Botanic, whose three foals to race have all been successful.

The dam is a half-sister to the South African stakes winner Diamond King and a family that includes the Group 3 winners Love Affair (Eagle Technology Stakes) and Somepin Anypin (Hawkesbury Gold Cup).

Since Moschino, Botanic has produced a pair of fillies by Sword Of State.
