Mollify has been racing well this preparation and she capped off a solid form line with victory at Cranbourne.

Our three-year-old daughter of So You Think had finished runner-up in both previous starts this time in before successfully stepping up to 1600 metres.

Mollify had showed promise earlier in the season when she placed in one of her three outings before she was given a break by trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman following an unplaced run in the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes in the spring.

“It’s really rewarding for the team at Cambridge Stud who have been patient with this girl,” Coleman said.

“She had gone close to breaking her maiden a couple of times so it’s nice that everything fell into place for her to get the job done.”

Ridden by Carleen Hefel, Mollify was quickly into her work to sit in second spot and was superior in the run home after striding to the front at the top of the straight.

“She has matured a lot and I was happy to sit off the leader, she travelled quite boldly and was nice and strong to the line,” Hefel said.

She is a daughter of the winning Lawman mare Mitigate, who we purchased for 50,000gns at the 2018 Tattersalls December Mares’ Sale.

She is a half-sister to the multiple international stakes winners Kick On and Sabratah and they are out of the Marju mare Marika, also successful at black type level.

Mitigate’s first foal Hilary’s Boy has won four times in England while her second is Investigate, a winner and runner-up in the G3 Manawatu Classic, and she is currently in foal to Almanzor.
