Congratulations to the connections of Moschino who cashed in when the Ten Sovereigns filly posted her breakthrough victory at Te Rapa.
It was a richly deserved win over 1400 metres as the only time the three-year-old had finished out of the money in her previous seven outings had been in the G2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes.
Trained by Margaret Falconer, our homebred representative worked her way to the front for rider Michael McNab and kicked strongly 250metres from home to put the issue beyond doubt.
Moschino is raced by Ellesmere Thoroughbreds and was the Gavelhouse platform for $2700 and is a daughter of the Stravinsky mare Botanic, whose three foals to race have all now been successful.
The dam is a half-sister to the South African stakes winner Diamond King and a family that includes the Group 3 winners Love Affair (Eagle Technology Stakes) and Somepin Anypin (Hawkesbury Gold Cup).
Since Moschino, Botanic has produced a pair of fillies by Sword Of State.
