Cambridge Stud continues a winning legacy that pays homage to champions past.
Sir Tristram arrived at Cambridge Stud in 1976; it was the beginning of a stud career which at one time saw him as the world's leading sire for individual Group One winners. When the curtain came down on his long and illustrious career, Sir Tristram left a record of 45 individual Group One winners.Accomplishments included winning the Australian Stallion Premiership on 6 occasions; 'The Dewar Award' (NZ & Australian combined earnings for a NZ-based stallion) 9 times; was Champion Australian Broodmare Sire 6 times and Champion NZ Broodmare Sire 3 times.
One of Sir Tristram's 45 Group One winners was his son from Lady Giselle, Zabeel. As fate would have it, Zabeel followed on in Sir Tristram's footsteps at Cambridge Stud as a world-class sire. Zabeel sired 46 Group One winners and no less than 166 individual Stakes Winners; was Australia’s Champion Sire twice; won 14 Dewar Awards as well as four New Zealand Stallion Premierships.
