Golden run of form continues

About Time continued her winning form at Ellerslie with a determined display to add a fourth victory to her record.

The daughter of American Pharoah had been successful on the course earlier this month and our four-year-old returned to win the Dunstan Horsefeeds Stayers’ Championship Final over 2400 metres.

Trained by Lance Noble, it wasn’t all plain sailing for last season’s G2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes winner and regular rider Warren Kennedy who had to overcome difficulty in the running to score.

About Time settled three back on the rail before angling off the fence before the turn but was denied clear air until she pushed between runners 300 metres from home and powered to victory.

The mare will be monitored over the next few days before the possibility of backing up over the course and distance again in the G3 Queen Elizabeth II Cup on New Year’s Day.

About Time is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Romantic Time, a half-sister to the ill-fated G2 Silver Slipper Stakes winner Amelia’s Dream.

She has been an excellent producer with her son and multiple winner Young Werther a multiple Group 1 placegetter while daughter Romantic Lady was a stakes performer and Villaden has also won eight races.

Romantic Time has an unraced juvenile son of Savabeel named Adoration and her Almanzor yearling colt will be offered at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in 2025.
