The Te Akau powerhouse added to its tally of winners by our resident sire Embellish with success at the Phar Lap Raceway.

His first-crop son Beau Brummell was untouched to claim victory over 1600 metres for trainers Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson and rider Warren Kennedy.Te Akau chief David Ellis purchased the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner Embellish as a yearling at Karaka for $775,000 and continues to enjoy success with his progeny.

“He’s made a great start to his stallion career with winners in New Zealand and Australia and this bloke (Beau Brummell) joins some really nice winners we’ve had by him in the stable,” Ellis said.

“Talisker recorded a hat-trick of wins before finishing second in the G1 2000 Guineas and What You Wish For, Glitzy Glory and Plenty O’ Style are other promising winners by Embellish that we’ve got,” he said.

“His oldest are only three-year-olds and I think he’s doing a great job at stud.”

Out of the Pentire mare Fashion Forward, Beau Brummell has now won three of his six starts and finished fourth in the Listed Southland Guineas off the back of his maiden victory.

Ellis and wife Karyn Fenton-Ellis bred Beau Brummell and races him with Waikato Thoroughbred Racing board of directors Glenn Holmes and wife Cathie.

The gelding purred along in the trail before he was angled into the clear at the top of the straight and was in a league of his own in the run home, coasting clear by 2.3l.
