We were over the moon with the welcome our new boy Hello Youmzain received from the free-spending domestic and international buying bench during Book 1 of New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale. Our multiple Group 1-winning son of Kodiac had 34 youngsters sell at Karaka at an average of $171,324 and a top price of $425,000.
The premier offering was our home-bred colt out of Steer The Stars that was purchased by Chris Waller Racing with Mulcaster Bloodstock. It was also hugely satisfying to see trainers of the calibre of Waller, Tony Pike, Richard and Will Freedman, Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr., Lindsay Park, Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Liam Howley, Stephen Marsh, John O’Shea, Nigel Blackiston, Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, Henry Dwyer and Paul Shailer secure Hello Youmzain yearlings.
And highly respected judges David Ellis, Go Racing, Blandford Bloodstock, James Bester, John Chalmers, Laurel Oak Bloodstock, Hong Kong Bloodstock, Phil Cataldo and Kevin Walls’ KPW Bloodstock all signed for at least one representative from his first crop.We were thrilled with the response to our own line of yearlings by Hello Youmzain, who ended Book 1 as the leading first season sire by aggregate and second by average to Wootton Bassett.
