Lux Libertas continued to reward the patient approach of her connections. The progressive daughter of our resident stallion Almanzor struck again at Te Rapa for trainers Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott to remain unbeaten in four appearances this campaign.“She’s a big girl and has been immature so we’ve taken our time,” Scott said.“She worked through the winter well and she’s got a few ticks in a few boxes now.”The four-year-old was given a patient ride in the 1400 metre contest by regular partner Warren Kennedy and she again responded positively. Lux Libertas settled third last in the running and speared between runners in the straight with an irresistible finish.“The plan was to ride her quietly, if she hits the front too soon, she gawks around,” he said.“She won with a bit in hand and is a stakes filly.”Lux Libertas was bred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax, whose daughter Kylie manages the interest of part-owner Goldeye Trust, with Lib Petagna. She is a daughter of the late stakes-performed Makfi mare Miss Fi, who was a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Peaceful.
