The lightly tried Fang It broke his maiden over 1600 metres at Cranbourne and the stable is confident he can measure up in stronger company.
Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, the three-year-old son of our stallion Embellish was successful at his fourth appearance after weighing in at each of his previous three outings. He was a $70,000 Karaka purchase out of Wentwood Grange’s draft by syndicator Dalziel Bloodstock, Moody Racing and John White Bloodstock.
“I’m really happy for the ownership group as the horse has had a few issues and Peter was confident he would deliver,” Wylie Dalziel said.“We’ll see how he comes through the race, but he shows he’s city standard at home.
”Fang It jumped well to sit one off the fence in second spot before rider Thomas Stockdale let him stride along before across the top and held a sustained finish to prove too good for his rivals.“I had an easy time and was happy to increase the tempo 600 metres out and he won well. I think he’s a horse that can stretch out further,” Stockdale said.
Fang It is a half-brother to the G3 Taranaki 2YO Classic winner Bonnie Aurelia with their dam the Red Clubs mare Cassie May, who was successful on three occasions.
