Lux Libertas was a stylish maiden winner at Te Rapa last month and she handled a rise in class with aplomb on her return to the Hamilton course. The daughter of Almanzor was successful first-up following a spell and she quickly followed up with a demolition of her Rating 65 rivals over 1200 metres.“She had gone the right way since her last win, her work had showed she hadn’t gone backwards,” said Andrew Scott, who trains the four-year-old with Lance O’Sullivan.Lux Libertas settled second last before improving across the top and she finished powerfully wide out on the track to score with plenty of authority. She has been ridden in her last two appearances by champion jockey Warren Kennedy, who is confident she can make her mark in black type company.Lux Libertas was bred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax, whose daughter Kylie manages the interest of part-owner Goldeye Trust, with JML Bloodstock. She is out of the late stakes-performed Makfi mare Miss Fi, who was a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Peaceful.
