Further Group success for homebred

Our bonny farm graduate Diss Is Dramatic collected her second Group 3 title when she proved superior in the Thompson Handicap at Trentham.Successful in the War Decree Stakes last season, the daughter of Dissident had been a sprint winner during the Hawke’s Bay spring carnival and she was again produced in fine fettle by trainer Lisa Latta.Diss Is Dramatic was given a cosy run in the trail by Tina Comignaghi and, once they shouldered into the clear in the straight, they put the issue beyond doubt.“That was a great performance. She drew the inside gate and was able to enjoy an economical run during the race,” Latta said.“It briefly looked like she might be a bit unlucky early in the straight, but Tina was able to get her into the open and she finished it off really strongly.“As long as she pulls up well from this, she’ll head down to Christchurch for the G2 Coupland’s Mile.”Our congratulations go to Albert Bosma’s Go Racing, who purchased Diss Is Dramatic out of our 2021 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale. She is a daughter of the Darci Brahma mare Our Drahma Queen, who is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Suavito and the G3 Swap Contractors Sprinter winner and G1 Windsor Park Plate runner-up Sultan Of Swing. Our Drahma Queen’s Almanzor colt was bought by DGR Thoroughbred Services and John Thompson Racing for $180,000 at Karaka earlier this year.
