Well-bred filly Lovazou made a triumphant return to racing at Ballarat where she comfortably accounted for her older rivals over 1200 metres for trainer Danny O’Brien.With Carleen Hefel sporting our colours, the daughter of Zoustar came back from a seven-month break in the best possible fashion with a performance that augurs well for further success this preparation.“She’s a classy horse who we’ve got a lot of time for, she’s certainly got a bright future,” stable representative Lachlan Currie said.Lovazou’s barrier manners have required attention and she’s benefitted from a stint at the Booralite Park property of education and pre-training expert Julien Welsh.“She’s spent a lot of time at Julien’s place and we thank him for all his work, he’s done a great job,” Currie said.Lovazou raced wide with cover in the body of the field and rounded off strongly for her second win from six appearances, which also includes a runner-up debut finish in the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Flemington.We secured Lovazou out of Kia Ora Stud’s draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for A$400,000 and she is a daughter of the Lonhro mare Lovani, a multiple winner and Group placegetter.Lovani is a half-sister to the Listed Lord Stakes winner Holbein and the G1 All-Aged Stakes runner-up Amenable.They are out of the Irish-bred Danehill Dancer mare Caribbean Sunset who was successful three times at Group 3 level and also placed three times at the highest level.
