Super performance from Goldi

News

Lightly tried four-year-old Super Goldi has bounced back to his best in Hong Kong with a hard-fought victory at Sha Tin.We bred the son of Tavistock who had been successful on debut on Boxing Day before a couple of midfield finishes, but the first-time step up to 1400 metres saw him return to winning ways for trainer Frankie Lor and jockey Derek Leung.Super Goldi is out of the Irish-bred Pivotal mare Steer By The Stars, whose first foal by Kodiac is the Listed Newbury Carnarvon Stakes winner Never Back Down.Respected Australian bloodstock agent John Foote purchased Steer By The Stars on our behalf for 160,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares’ Sale. She is a half-sister to the Listed Sandown Heron Stakes winner and Group 1 performer Consort and we sold Super Goldi through Maluka Thoroughbreds’ draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for A$400,000 to the Hong Kong Jockey Club.He subsequently realised $931,500 when reoffered at the Hong Kong International Sale while we sold Steer By The Stars’ colt by Hello Youmzain for $425,000 to Chris Waller and Guy Mulcaster at Karaka this year. The mare also produced a son of Hello Youmzain last season and is now in foal to Farnan.
