A crack at black type awaits Little Stirrer following her second-up success on the Lakeside course at Sandown. Our daughter of Written Tycoon sat three deep on the pace before she strode to the front in the straight and proved superior to her rivals at the end of 1000 metres.“She was very brave after sitting three wide and it’s great to get a city win for Cambridge Stud who have always been good supporters of ours,” co-trainer Ben Hayes said.He confirmed the filly will now be set for the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes over 1200 metres at Flemington on March 30.“She deserves an opportunity at stakes level so we’ll plot a path toward that,” he said.Little Stirrer was ridden by Michael Dee, who didn’t panic was he was caught out on a limb and his two-year-old partner responded impressively in the straight.“She’s always showed very good gate speed and when the other two kicked up to keep us out I just kept her in a rhythm,” he said.“She gave a good kick and was very strong to the winning post, there’s certainly more in store for her.”Little Stirrer was making her second appearance following a debut fifth at Caulfield prior to Christmas.“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong and she still ran a great race,” Dee said. “She had a break after that and has come back stronger and she’s got plenty of heart.”We purchased Little Stirrer out of breeder Arrowfield Stud’s draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale draft for A$500,000.She is out of the G3 Widden Stakes winner Teacup, a daughter of Snitzel whose sister Aliyana Tilde won the G3 Epona Stakes and placed at Group 1 level in the Australian Oaks, Sydney Cup and the Vinery Stakes.
