An improved surface at Kembla Grange was key to our Snitzel four-year-old Eau De Vie turning her form around. The Richard and Will Freedman-trained mare had struck a heavy track on her last visit to the course and finished well back, but the Good 4 conditions on her return saw her bounce back in style.Eau De Vie was quickly into stride for Alysha Collett to cruise along in second spot before taking control 250 metres from home and she saw the 1500 metres out strongly for the third win of her career. We purchased her out of breeder Arrowfield Stud’s consignment at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for A$400,000.Eau De Vie is a daughter of the Listed Laelia Stakes winner C’Est Beau La Vie, who is a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner and G1 Hong Kong Cup sprint runner-up Jolly Wonder and the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes winner Wales.Under the second dam is the two-time Australian Horse of the Year, and historic three-time G1 Melbourne Cup heroine and G1 Cox Plate winner Makybe Diva.
