Embellish has made a highly promising start to his domestic stallion career and our Group 1-winning son of Savabeel is now off the mark across the Tasman.
His three-year-old son Bold Soul made a successful debut at Donald over 1350 metres for trainer Patrick Payne and rider Harry Coffey. He settled three back on the fence before angling clear at the top of the straight and finished off powerfully to comfortably score at the first time of asking.
“I spoke to Patrick and he gave the horse a good push and thought he would run pretty well,” Coffey said.“He gave me a good feel and came into nicely on the corner and finished off well.“
"He has been very well educated and looked terrific in the coat, he’ll win more races.”
The last foal of the now retired Singspiel mare Twin Soul, Bold Soul was bred by Lou Te Keeti and sold during the Book 2 session at Karaka last year to Wanganui horseman Hamish Auret and subsequently made his way to Payne’s Victorian operation.Embellish has now been represented by eight individual winners and his three-year-olds were to the fore during the age group features at the New Zealand Cup carnival.
His son Talisker finished runner-up in the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas, a race won by his sire in 2017, while our own Luberon was a gallant fourth in the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas after covering ground from a wide gate.
