The well-related Saint Aubins has quickly added to the family honours board with an early winning strike.

The three-year-old had finished an eye-catching third on debut and he showed the benefit of that outing with his maiden victory over 1423 metres at Sale.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, our homebred son of Too Darn Hot was partnered by Blake Shinn who sported the colours of global bloodstock powerhouse Coolmore.

Saint Aubins settled well back in the field before picking up ground 500 metres from home and produced a sustained finish to win with something in reserve.

“There was a lot of pressure to the first turn, so I just rode him where he was comfortable and while he was wide, he travelled well,” Shinn said.

“We had the race won at the 200, he switched off when he got to the front.”

Saint Aubins is expected to continue his progressions as he gets out in distance.

“He’s talented and was very good to the line. Looking at that, he’ll definitely be a 2000 metre horse,” stable representative Adrian Joyce said.

Saint Aubins was bought out of our draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by Maher for $130,000.
He is a half-brother to last season’s G3 Manawatu Classic winner Outovostock with their dam the Fastnet Rock mare Orphea.

She was successful on two occasions and is a sister to the G1 Australian Guineas winer Rock Classic.

Orphea’s Deep Field filly sold to Capri Racing & Syndication for A$100,000 at this year’s Magic Million Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the dam has a Savabeel colt and is due to foal to Dundeel.
