Mare continues to make her mark

Mare continues to make her mark30 Jun 2024

Keep Alight is sadly no longer with us, but her progeny continues to fly the flag for the Keeper mare.

All eight of her foals to race have been successful and includes the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic winner She’s Alight and the multiple stakes placegetter Midnitemagicman who scored in Hong Kong as Little Island.

They were both sired by Tavistock, as is Tavis Town and he advanced Keep Alight’s progeny tally to 34 wins when he triumphed over 1800 metres at Rockhampton.

It was the Paul Jenkins-trained gelding’s sixth career victory and a performance full of merit under the hefty impost of 63kg.

He settled in second spot for rider Sean Cormack before hitting the front 350 metres from home and gallantly staved off the challenge of the runner-up who was in receipt of 7kg.

Tavis Town was originally purchased out of Cambridge Stud’s draft at Karaka for $60,000 by Ohukia Lodge and subsequently bought out of their Ready to Run Sale draft by Duncan for $120,000.

We currently have Keep Alight’s last foal, a yearling filly by Embellish named Abbelire.
