In scoring an upset victory in last night’s Hong Kong Mile-Gr.1 at Sha Tin, Able One took his earnings to a massive HK$37,091,338 (NZ$6.1m approx.).

What’s more, it was the third international Group One victory for the horse having previously won both the 2007 and 2010 runnings of the HKJC Champions Mile.

Able One was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan and raised at Cambridge Stud before being sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2004 Karaka Select Sale for $190,000 from the consignment of Phoenix Park.

He is a nine-year-old son of Cape Cross and Gardenia (by Danehill) and now has an overall record of 41 starts, 11 wins & 5 minor placings.  His trainer is John Moore and last night he was ridden by Jeff Lloyd.
