Kingfield is a work in progress and an early winning strike at Doomben emphasised his abundance of raw talent.

At just his second start, the Chris Waller-trained son of Almanzor faced a steep rise in distance and rose to the challenge in tenacious fashion to break his maiden over 2030 metres.

We bred and sold Kingfield who had finished in behind the placegetters in his debut earlier this month over 1400 metres and showed staying is his game with a hard-fought victory.

“You can forget his first run at Beaudesert where he didn’t handle the tight track and we knew he would improve up in trip, although he’s still six months away,” stable representative Brett Killian said.

“He still doesn’t have much idea but is a really nice staying type and we know the ability is all there.”

Kingfield settled on the leader’s quarters and rider James Orman gave him a reminder before the turn and the three-year-old responded to stave off his rivals.

“Going from 1400 metres to a middle distance at his second start was a really good effort and he’ll improve a lot,” Orman said.

Kingfield was part of our draft to Inglis’ Australian Easter Yearling Sale draft in 2022 and sold to Waller and Mulcaster Bloodstock for A$240,000.

He is the first winner for the Domesday mare Western Belle, a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Regal Power whose brother Action won the G2 Western Australian Derby.

Three-time elite level winner Arcadia Queen is another member of this high-class family.

Western Belle, who won on three occasions, has an unraced three-year-old Pierro filly named Rodeo Belle and a juvenile daughter of Savabeel called Belle Star.

The mare had a daughter of Hello Youmzain last season and is back in foal to the multiple Group 1-winning son of Kodiac.
